National Sex Offender Database has Just Been Made Available

Concerned parents now have the ability to access the National SexOffender Registry to search for child predators in their neighborhood. The National Alert Registry (Click here to find out more) is now offering access to The National SexOffender Registry, a database provided for the empowerment of parents.

Prior to this service, SexOffender data has only been made available on a state or county level, and conveniently locating and accessing the information was often difficult. In most instances, you have to know the name of the individual you are looking for, and in many states, you must go to your police station and complete a request form. Additionally, some states have a fee and limit individuals to viewing only two registered SexOffender names at a time.

The National SexOffender Registry was created because of the Pam Lychner Sexual Offender Tracking and Identification Act of 1996 (Lychner Act). The Lychner act, among other things, requires that a national database be maintained and that the FBI use it to track the movements of convicted SexOffenders. It is the FBI’s job to register and verify the addresses of SexOffenders. For more on how the FBI works with the Lychner act, you can visit:
