Private housing developers are joining a surging number of communities that are telling convicted sex offenders who need a place to live: "Not in my backyard."
Corrections to assess sex offenders prior to parole (The Sacramento Bee)
The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation will begin screening all sex offenders who are on the verge of parole to determine how much of a risk they present to the public and to make sure that any child molesters among them won't be living within a half-mile of a school.
